The plain steel E string in this set produces a bright sound with great projection. The wound E string is designed to produce a slightly warmer tone, and is slightly more expensive, but we find, equally popular. Set with the wound E string: D135S Loop-End or Ball-End E String? This set features a loop-end E string, which is best suited for fine tuners with 1 prong or a hook for the end of the E string. Ball-end E strings are designed to be used with 2-prong fine tuners. Generally, most full size instruments are set up with a single prong fine tuner, which is designed for a loop-end E string.
